One More Episode
A browser extension that counts active YouTube viewing, interrupts at the limit set by the user, and activates digital/physical feedback when that limit is crossed.
One More Episode is a browser extension that asks the viewer to set a watching limit before starting YouTube. It counts the time while a video is actively playing. When the time limit set by the user is reached, a full-screen warning appears where the user can either stop watching or extend the watching limit, triggering digital/physical feedback. The system also sends a signal to an Arduino-controlled humidifier, bringing the warning out of the screen and into the room.
The extension follows the limit set by the user and does not decide anything. When that limit set by the user reaches a threshold, it asks them to either stop watching or add more time. It never blocks the video or makes the decision for them. If they choose to continue, it remembers how much extra time they added. Every time the user crosses the limit and extends the time, it triggers digital/phycial feedbacks, causing interruptions like audio barks that run in the background, the judgment eye, which appears on display as a warning glare, and a buffering animation, which creates an illusion of buffering video, as well as the humidifier acting as a dysfunction, bringing digital warning into physical feedback, making their repeated decisions harder to ignore.
The extension does not know why the user is watching or whether the video is important. It cannot understand their mood, responsibilities, or reasons for continuing. It only knows how long the video has been playing, what limit was originally set, and how many times that limit was extended. The final decision to stop or continue always stays with the user.
Playing loads the video from YouTube. Nothing is loaded from them until you press play.
